Sad news, East End Arts did not get the students needed for their week long winter programs.

Little Folk's Music will be at Comsewquoge Library on March 7!

Little Folk's Music believes that parents are the child's most influential teacher.

"Babies are born ready to learn. Early neural connections occur at warp speed. Learning is faster, easier and more fun than it will ever be again. By age 3, certain developmental windows begin to close. By the time a child starts kindergarten, 90 percent of structural brain development is complete. The foundation for lifelong learning is largely set."

Whatever or wherever you call home, the serenity, peace and security that is there, will be how a child's learning will take root and grow.

"Early experiences profoundly impact a child's social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. Young children need consistent and supportive relationships with parents or other caregivers. They need frequent interactions with those adults. They need sensory stimulation, exposure to a language-rich environment and a feeling of safety and security."

Consistencies and routine are Little Folk's

Music fundamental core!

Sound imitation, rhyming, singing, and object / symbol identification foster language skills.  Moving to differing cultural music “moods” develops timing, spatial awareness and a sense of balance.

December FOLLIES!!!!

Little Folk's Music had the opportunity to take part in the 16th annual Dickens Festival in Port Jefferson.   Where Little Folk's Music had one class at the village center on Saturday, December 3rd. Than, on Sunday, December 4th,  A band of young carolers along with Ms. Folk sang in 19 restaurants!  At Paces of Port Jefferson, the young carolers sung on their own.  What a warm welcome they received by all!

 Little Folk's Music is NOW setting up for the new year with all the recent bookings we had to run and get the 2012 calendar!  Little Folk's Music is now considering teaching the teacher classes.  This is a new endeavor and will be looked at very carefully.   Since, Little Folk's Music presently has two musical educationally modeled albums for families to share, it is now time to finish up the seasons with two more.

As families get more aware of the promise of music and full body motion in early literacy education, Little folk's music will promote steady beat with incidental melodic training and suggest daily routines to help with that understanding.

Life is GOOD.  Having HOPE is the best way to enjoy it.

Music activates and lights up all areas of the brain."prime times" or "windows of opportunity" exist when the brain is a "supersponge," absorbing new information more easily and developing in major leaps. This is especially true in the first five years of life.
                              December 8th;
North Shore Public Library  at 10:15 am,  Shoreham/Wading River;  Infant rhythms (newborn-6 months)
 Newborn infant brain begins wiring up from the moment of birth.  Babies respond to and reflect the attention of their parents and their environment.  Rhythm and steady beat help develop everything from physical coordination to language skills.  through creative songs, movement and activities using sensory enhancing props to help develop eye tracking, muscle-joint awareness, tactile stimulation, sound awareness and balance to name a few.  Parents gain support, make new friends and share information in a gentle and caring surrounding while babies learn socialization as well.

                                   December 13th;
Copiague Memorial Public Library at 10:30am, Copiague;
Little Folk's will be joining their Parent-Toddler Workshop as a early childhood resource specialist to answer parents' questions about the developing mind and music. With a preview of Little Folk's Music program.

The development of a child's brain holds the key.  So touch, talk, read, smile, sing, count and play with your children. It does more than make both of you feel good. It helps develop and nourishes the brain and the child's potential for a lifetime.

Meg and Bella VISIT!

Our Summer was filled with Great joy and love. The opportunities small children give us to learn about ourselves is amazing.  I became an over protective grandmother, a side of me I have never seen before considering the type of work I do.  I had to have one of my older friend's explain this reaction; "Your baby is now raising a baby, you are just insuring you raised yours right!" Ah, parenting! What a wonderful adventure.
Little Folk's Music is presently booking for Winter!  If your school or library is in need of Musical adventures classes, ages birth to five with parent, have them contact me @(631)830-5058. Please point our where you found this blog.

How do we develop a strong economy?

Politics in educating our YOUNG. ⇐⇐⇐⇐

"Equipping young children with skills to succeed is not simply a moral or social obligation."
"It's an economic imperative. Economic studies show that investments in high-quality early education produce a higher per-dollar return than K-12 schooling, college and later job training. Every dollar invested returns about 10 cents each year for the rest of the child's life."

They need frequent interactions with those adults. They need sensory stimulation, exposure to a language-rich environment and a feeling of safety and security."

Consistencies and routine are Little Folk's Music fundamental core!

"85 percent of a child's core brain structure is formed by age 3, less than 4 percent of public investment on education and development have occurred by that time.   Early care and education funding is often one of the first things to be cut by governments with budget deficits. The claim is that we simply "can't afford it." That kind of thinking is not only shortsighted; it's fiscally irresponsible."

Sound imitation, rhyming, singing, and object / symbol identification foster language skills.  Moving to differing cultural music “moods” develops timing, spatial awareness and a sense of balance.

"And yet, many young children don't enjoy such experiences. They are exposed to prolonged stress. They often feel neither safe nor secure. Rather than strong neural foundations that support learning, these children end up with fragile foundations that limit development."

How does Little Folk's Music benefit your child?
♥Exposure to new and ever changing world that allows the child's natural curiosity with families consistent reassurance and support.

"Early care and education funding is often one of the first things to be cut by governments with budget deficits. The claim is that we simply "can't afford it." That kind of thinking is not only shortsighted; it's fiscally irresponsible. Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are spent each year on special education and other remedial services to deal with the consequences of low education and unemployment. That includes food, housing and medical care subsidies, as well as criminal justice, child protection and substance abuse costs."
 *The quotes are from Steven Rowe, commentary. I hope his article is reprinted and has the exposure that is needed to share the fundamental concepts to preserve our children's future.  (" ")-
