How do we develop a strong economy?

Politics in educating our YOUNG. ⇐⇐⇐⇐

"Equipping young children with skills to succeed is not simply a moral or social obligation."
"It's an economic imperative. Economic studies show that investments in high-quality early education produce a higher per-dollar return than K-12 schooling, college and later job training. Every dollar invested returns about 10 cents each year for the rest of the child's life."

Little Folk's Music believes that parents are the child's most influential teacher.

"Babies are born ready to learn. Early neural connections occur at warp speed. Learning is faster, easier and more fun than it will ever be again. By age 3, certain developmental windows begin to close. By the time a child starts kindergarten, 90 percent of structural brain development is complete. The foundation for lifelong learning is largely set."

Whatever or wherever you call home, the serenity, peace and security that is there, will be how a child's learning will take root and grow.

"Early experiences profoundly impact a child's social, emotional, intellectual and physical development. Young children need consistent and supportive relationships with parents or other caregivers. They need frequent interactions with those adults. They need sensory stimulation, exposure to a language-rich environment and a feeling of safety and security."

Consistencies and routine are Little Folk's Music fundamental core!

"85 percent of a child's core brain structure is formed by age 3, less than 4 percent of public investment on education and development have occurred by that time.   Early care and education funding is often one of the first things to be cut by governments with budget deficits. The claim is that we simply "can't afford it." That kind of thinking is not only shortsighted; it's fiscally irresponsible."

Sound imitation, rhyming, singing, and object / symbol identification foster language skills.  Moving to differing cultural music “moods” develops timing, spatial awareness and a sense of balance.

"And yet, many young children don't enjoy such experiences. They are exposed to prolonged stress. They often feel neither safe nor secure. Rather than strong neural foundations that support learning, these children end up with fragile foundations that limit development."

"Early care and education funding is often one of the first things to be cut by governments with budget deficits. The claim is that we simply "can't afford it." That kind of thinking is not only shortsighted; it's fiscally irresponsible. Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars are spent each year on special education and other remedial services to deal with the consequences of low education and unemployment. That includes food, housing and medical care subsidies, as well as criminal justice, child protection and substance abuse costs."
*The quotes are from Steven Rowe, commentary. I hope his article is reprinted and has the exposure that is needed to share the fundamental concepts to preserve our children's future.  (" ")-

Intuitive parenting!

Knowing you are not alone in this marvelous adventure called;
                         'Parenting'

Little Folk's Music believes that parents are the child's most influential teacher. Aunts, Uncles, Grandma and Grandpa all play an enormous contributing role along with daily caregivers.  One of the components of Little Folk's Music philosophy is the importance of family and/or daycare involvement.Whatever or wherever you call home, the serenity, peace and security that is there, will be how a child's learning will take root and grow.

Consistencies and routine are Little Folk's Music fundamental core!  Sound imitation, rhyming, singing, and object / symbol identification foster language skills.  Moving to differing cultural music “moods” develops timing, spatial awareness and a sense of balance.  Add Daddy's low, loud notes make the 'normal' mundane day silly and fun. Silly DADDY!
Little Folk's Music encourages the child to engage in their own musical world while building confidence, self-control and communicative skills.

Little Folk's Music At North Shore Public Library!

On Tuesday, April 5th  Little Folk's Music met the most wonderful new Mothers and one Dad with their very young babies.  Birth to 18 months was our class, but This  time it was a very special class.  The oldest young student was 11 months old.  Our youngest was 3months.  Little John's eyes just lit up as Mommy lift him up and down, around and around as we sang Baby goes round, Baby goes up and than they come down. around and around (went Colby) and around.   It was a polling day at North Shore Library so there were many faces walking by and looking in.  Some even came in spent sometime and off to the Children's Library.  All during a wonderful, delightful time of sharing music with these wonderful young families. Thank you Lori for inviting me.

Mr. MOON!

Mr. Moon, your out too soon!  The sun is still in the sky.  Go back to bed and rest your head until the day becomes night!  Another animated song sung in Little Folk's!  Also, just perfect for the days leading up to the full moon on March 19, 2011.

Spring is finally here!  With a Super Full moon to light our way!

Slushy, Mushy cold and wet, for our first day of our lawn-guy-land Spring!

This super moon made our high tides 'really' high and our low tides a long walk to the waters edge.  The constant sound of waves calls us near to hear the soothing rumblings of one of natures rhythms.

Our heart keeps a beating, all day long.  A comforting sound of that constant beat soothing us through each daily tempo.  A beating and repeating, all day long.  All day long, all day long.  I'm keep-a singing all day long.
Izabella exploring her world, as babies do..... through their mouths.  Cooing and enjoying a in the crib moment!

Singing and SNOW!

Watch the snow come falling down, falling, falling, down. Is a wonderful song we sing in Little Folk's Music WINTER classes. Not ONLY are the concepts of UP and DOWN involved but the use of vocal (ups) with physical (downs). Scarfs are used to represent (snow) white and (rain) blue. We blow up, so that the scarfs can fall gently and softly down to the ground.

With this wonderful snow storm we are getting 1/12/2011, please remember the simple gifts of a warm house, a cup of tea, food to share, family to laugh with. Thank those people, willing to get out in the cold and ice to make our lives simpler by gathering food, clearing off cars, and generally creating paths. These things make this life journey just a bit easier.

During the snow falling song in Little Folk's Music, we NEVER forget that snow can be fun! The lessons of never take things to seriously, and always remember to PLAY is truly encouraged.

Have a playful snowball fight, enjoy the differing human reactions.
